What’s your travel style?

I was recently relaxing with my brother in Hawaii for my dad’s 70th birthday. Just under a year earlier, we had been adventuring through Italy for his 40th and he said to me how the two trips were just so different. We got into a conversation about how there are vacations that are relaxing, not too many plans, you get through a whole book, maybe even two, and the main focus is what you will eat for each meal. And then some trips are adventuresome and you see a lot of things and maybe even bounce around to different places. It’s very important to understand your main expectations and goals of your trip (and the expectations of those with whom you are traveling).

Talk about expectations

When we ask you what your expectations are for your vacation, that’s why we’re inquiring. We want to know as much as possible so we can curate the best trip for you and your loved ones. It’s important also, for you to have these conversations with the people you’re traveling with. You want to be sure that everyone lays their expectations out on the table. It doesn’t mean that each will 100% be met, but talking about it is helpful. If I go to Paris for several days and don’t get duck confit, or a croissant, I’m going to be disappointed. And if I go to Hawaii and never get time to lay by the beach and read a book, you better believe someone’s going to hear about it. But just because those things seem important and must-dos to me, doesn’t mean the people I’m traveling with feel the same way. So meet up with everyone, if you’re in different places, have a video chat and talk about your hopes and expectations for the trip.

What if I don’t know what I need?

If you’re in a high-stress job with not a lot of time off, you might need something like an all-inclusive resort, a cruise, or a beach or mountain getaway. Traipsing through Europe, moving locations every other day might not be the rest your body needs. But if you’re a very active person who feels bored by your job, maybe an adventure will help spice up your life and make creativity flow. Let’s have a conversation about your life, what you might be interested in and let us curate the perfect trip for you. We have experience here and that’s why we’re doing what we’re doing. So you don’t have to.

A vacation from your vacation

Sometimes, you even need a vacation from your vacation. Have you ever come back from a trip and then go into a work meeting and people are asking you about your vacation and jealous that you must be sooooo relaxed from it, and you’re not? Like yes, maybe it was a wonderful experience and you saw amazing sights and tried new things, but taking time away and having an adventure doesn’t equate to relaxing always. Though both types of trips are significant. It’s important to see the world and have new experiences. Without them, we’d never grow as humans.
