Alisha’s Story: an Introduction

I still remember the day my Mom gave my Dad his 40th birthday gift. A trip to Hawaii. It was a big deal. I grew up in a moderate-income level home. We always had the basics but never the extras. Earlier that year my Mom had taken a part-time position at a local bank—solely to save for this trip and give him this gift. I remember all of us being blown away. We were giddy with anticipation.

The day we landed we went straight to the beach and at 13 I had an image of models running down tropical beaches. I needed that moment! I remember asking my Mom to snap pictures of me on her kodak disposable camera as I galavanted across the sand—If social media had only existed back then! It was such a special trip, a core memory for sure. I was bitten by the travel bug. Another core travel memory was a family cruise we took for my grandparent’s retirement party. I loved every aspect of it. Endless food, the pool, shopping, exploring at the ports, shows and dancing! It really had a little something for everyone. I loved the evenings we would dress up and the whole family would have fancy dinners together.

As I grew into early adulthood I traveled some but it wasn’t until I met my husband Brandon that I really began to travel more extensively. Lucky for us, we travel very well together. We love to eat, relax, add a splash of adventure but mostly our idea of the perfect vacation is a warm sandy beach with great drinks and a good book (or two!). We’ve had the good fortune of traveling through Cabo, Tulum, Turks and Caicos, Nicaragua, Belize, London and Barcelona. Through my work I have traveled to nearly every state and major city within the U.S. Additionally, we have also had the opportunity to plan and lead several mission trips to Nicaragua and Uganda.

For me, what has been most exciting about our new venture with Escpade World Travel is to couple my love of travel with my 25 years of business experience. As someone who has led a very busy and often stressful work life, I understand the value of a good vacation. Especially one that could be custom-tailored to your travel preferences. As a busy executive, I would have loved to have someone plan and book my whole trip and all I have to do is pack and show up! In fact, my cousin Tracy did just this for me last year on my solo trip to visit her in Barcelona. She has traveled even more than I and I trust her implicity. She sent me a full agenda of activities, restaurants, bars and must-sees. It was and will remain one of my best trips.

As Tracy and I embark on this new adventure launching Escapde Travel we hope you choose to be part of the adventure by letting us help you plan your next trip! Don’t think of us as your Travel Advisor. Think of us as your travel curator. Your next escapade awaits!
