Turks & Caicos

This trip was one I had been fantasizing about for several years. I worked for a company headquartered on the East Coast, and everyone talked about their upcoming vacations on the island. Living on the West Coast was not a commonplace that people on this side of the US typically visit. It’s usually Cabo or Hawaii. I heard such great things about Turks. My husband decided this was where he wanted to celebrate his 50th birthday. Yay! Okay, let’s be honest. I suggested it, and he had no choice.

The details

Originally we had planned to go in December of 2020. Does anyone remember 2020? We postponed the trip to April of 2021. The island was open, and precautions were taken to visit. We met all the requirements to travel and landed on the beautiful Island in mid-April. The warm, humid air blew cooly on our skin, and we were excited. We booked our stay at an All Inclusive, adults-only resort, Club Med. It was about a 30-minute drive from the airport (free shuttle). The property was beautiful. This was the first time we had ever stayed at an all-inclusive location. I was hesitant, to say the least. Mostly because I love good food and drinks and wasn’t sure an all-inclusive place would meet my food quality expectations. We also heard that eating in town would add up fast and required a taxi. We were so blown away by how beautiful the resort was. And the food was on point. One of the strongest memories of the trip was my husband’s face whenever we walked in for mealtime. To say we were overwhelmed with options is an understatement. Additionally, the food was plated so beautifully.

The resort

The resort offered everything! There was a beautiful pool overlooking the ocean, and easy beach access, and the water itself was the most beautiful water I had ever seen. There were endless beaches. Having been to Hawaii, Mexico, Belize, and now Turks, it still remains the most beautiful color and temperature I’ve personally experienced!

The amenities

The other thing we loved about the resort was the amenities. They offered yoga and workout classes, had bocce ball, table tennis, etc. The most surprising amenity was the trapeze! Yes, you read that correctly. There was a giant trapeze area where guests could learn how to swing from the trapeze and do tricks. Well, I couldn’t help myself, I had to try. It was a blast and challenging! Each afternoon they hosted a cocktail hour with live music. In the evening, they had trapeze and dance shows you could attend (and even participate in if you were brave enough). After the shows, you could head to the bar area for drinks and dancing. It just had good vibes from morning to nite. We never left the resort. Therefore I can’t tell you much about anything else on the island.

The excursions

In addition to the amenities and daily life at the resort, you could also choose from a variety of activities. We snorkeled, of course. We also parasailed for the first time. What a blast that was! The boat picked us up on the shore and took us out to the middle of the water. From there, we suited up and set sail! The views of the Island and water were incredible.

The wrap-up

When we weren’t exploring the resort’s amenities or trapezing, you could find us lying like lizards near the pool or on the beach reading a novel. It was and still is one of my favorite trips (and that is saying something because I have been lucky enough to travel some pretty amazing places).
